Up Front Brewing

Up Front is one man's adventure: Jake, formerly of Fyne Ales and Drygate's first head brewer in Glasgow, launched his brand in 2015 with no loans, no investors and no crowdfunding — everything paid up front, as the name promises. A nomadic brewer for years, he acquired his own kit in 2024 before setting up his tanks in 2025 in Strathaven, a pastoral market town twenty-five minutes south of Glasgow. His speciality: wild beers, sours and barrel-ageing, experiments with yeasts from around the world, and labels by genuine artists — with a meadery, Up Front Meadery, brewing as a side project.
