Orkney Brewery Ltd

In the Victorian schoolhouse of Quoyloo, a mile from the Neolithic site of Skara Brae, Orkney Brewery has been brewing since 1988 — one of Scotland's very first microbreweries. Its classics tell the story of the archipelago: Dark Island with its roasted dark fruits, Skull Splitter, an 8.5% barley wine named after the nickname of Orkney's 7th Viking Earl, and Corncrake, which supports bird conservation. The visitor centre, the only brewery in the UK to hold VisitScotland five-star status, offers tours, a shop and a Tasting Hall where Dark Island hotpot is served in the old classroom.
