Isle of Skye Brewery

Founded in April 1995 by two Portree High School teachers, the Isle of Skye Brewery was the first commercial brewery on Skye and the Western Isles. From its home at the foot of Uig pier, where the ferries leave for the Outer Hebrides, its very first brew — Red Cuillin, now Skye Red — took CAMRA's Champion Beer of Scotland title in 1997, the first of a harvest of more than sixty awards. The house mills its own grain and hand-picks local berries and plants for its ales, from Skye Gold to the deep Skye Black. The shop is open every day, between cliffs and sea spray.
