Isle of Eigg Brewery

On Eigg, the pioneering island bought by its community in 1997 and powered by its own renewable grid, Scotland's first cooperative brewery was born. Owned by its hundreds of members, a stone's throw from Galmisdale pier, the all-electric brewery brews "for social and environmental good" across an adventurous repertoire: IPAs, stouts, pilsners, hefeweizens, fruit beers and wild fermentations. Every pint funds island life and its model of self-sufficiency — a brewing manifesto unique in Europe, best savoured facing An Sgùrr after the crossing from Mallaig.
