About this brewery

Since 1988, brothers Bruce and Scott Williams have been guardians of the Gaelic recipe for "leann fraoich", the heather ale brewed in Scotland for 4,000 years. Their Fraoch, made with heather flowers and bog myrtle, remains unique in the world and made Williams Bros a pioneer of Scottish craft long before the term existed. Based in Alloa, the country's former brewing capital, where it is the last brewery still in operation, the family firm also brews other historic ales — Scots pine, elderberry, seaweed, gooseberry — alongside a modern range of IPAs and lagers. A living bridge between brewing archaeology and contemporary creativity.
