Gigha Brewing

On the small isle of Gigha, bought out by its residents in 2002 off the Kintyre peninsula, a nanobrewery distils the essence of the Hebrides in small batches: a crisp lager, a malty golden ale, and island-grown boldness such as a gose made with fruit foraged on the isle or a saison fermented with a wild culture and aged over Gigha oyster shells. In summer its horsebox bar opens in the Gigha Hotel beer garden, and the beers stock the Ardminish store — the shortest supply chain imaginable, on an island best explored by bike between white beaches and the Achamore Gardens.
