Sogn-of-Fjordane

Sogn og Fjordane is a former county (fylke) in western Norway, bordering Møre og Romsdal, Oppland and Hordaland; it has been part of Vestland since 2020. It had about 110,000 inhabitants in 2019. It includes the Nærøyfjord, a UNESCO site, and the Ægir brewery, founded in 2007 in Flåm.

Ægir Bryggeri At the innermost tip of the Aurlandsfjord, an arm of the legendary Sognefjord, Norwegian Aud Melås and American Evan Lewis — a homebrewer since his teens — founded Ægir Bryggeri in 2007, named after the sea god who, according to Odin, brewed the best beer of the nine worlds. Their brewpub is among Europe's most spectacular: a dark-timber Viking longhouse with dragon heads and a nine-metre fireplace, voted Norway's best brewpub three years running. Steps from the famous Flåm Railway, you can sip the house IPA, Rallar Amber, Sumbel Porter or Heidrun mead, while the Viking Plank pairs five dishes with five beers.
