Liechtensteiner Brauhaus AG
Founded in 2007 by Bruno Güntensperger, the Liechtensteiner Brauhaus revived brewing in the principality after decades of absence, under the motto "Ein Land. Ein Bier." Named Swiss beer of the year as early as 2009, it brews top- and bottom-fermented classics in Schaan as well as the Club Bier craft line, whose White IPA won gold at the European Beer Star 2024. Since 2022 a new building has united a visible brewhouse, a cosy taproom and a Braumarkt of regional products, with guided tours and tastings. It is an essential stop to taste the Rhine Alps in a glass and to discover the only commercial brewery in Liechtenstein.
Liechtensteiner Edelbrand (Tschügger Bräu)
Behind the Liechtensteiner Edelbrand association, founded in 2008 in Schellenberg to distil fruit from local orchards, hides one of Europe's smallest breweries. Since 2011 Florian Goop has brewed the Tschügger here, a pale lager made by hand in micro-batches in the family workshop, alongside rarities such as an IPA aged in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks and a barrel-aged imperial stout. Sold only through local partners and carrying the "Genuss aus Liechtenstein" label, Tschügger is a trophy for beer hunters: living proof that a village of a thousand inhabitants can have its very own terroir beer, brewed a few steps from the Schellenberg castle ruins.
