About this brewery

Born in 1981 as an annex workshop of a Bauska kolkhoz, in the fertile plain of Zemgale, the brewery launched as early as 1982 the two beers that still make its name: Bauskas gaišais, a rounded blonde, and Bauskas tumšais, a malty dark — classics of traditional Latvian taste that have stayed true to themselves through the ages. The repertoire has widened to kvass, beer cocktails and even kombucha, the sign of a house unafraid to experiment. Brought in 2019 into the Cido group via Lāčplēša alus, Bauskas alus remains one of the regional pillars of Latvian beer, close to the castles of Bauska and Rundāle.
