From a garage in New Zealand to RateBeer's world top 100: Tempest's journey sums up the ambition of Scottish craft. Founded in 2010 in Kelso by Gavin and Annika Meiklejohn on their return from brewing travels around the globe, the brewery now operates in Tweedbank, near Galashiels, in the heart of the Scottish Borders. Named Scottish Brewery of the Year 2016, it brews a borderless palette: thirst-quenching lagers, fruited sours, IPAs saturated with New World hops, and imperial stouts laced with chilli and chocolate. The brewery shop, open on weekdays, and tours by arrangement make it the craft gateway to southern Scotland.
