About this brewery
On the small island of Muhu, the stepping stone between the mainland and Saaremaa, the tiny brewery of Liiva makes beers deeply rooted in local culture. Every label tells the island's story in its own dialect: Muhu Tüdrik, the cherry-lipped maiden; Vöörmünder, the wise peacemaker; Nänn, the grandmother behind a bittersweet stout; and Must Mart, the legendary hero whose treasure lies under a boulder on Tammiski beach. Juniper-tinged ale, Belgian-style saison, stouts and fruited brews make up an endearing artisan range, best hunted down on the island itself — among museum villages, windmills and the famed Pädaste manor — or in Tallinn's better bottle shops.
