About this brewery

The Vormsi Õlu brand carries the name of the small Swedish-heritage island in the Baltic, yet its beer is born in Koeru, a rural township in Järvamaa at Estonia's geographic centre. Emerging around 2014 in the first wave of Estonian craft brewing, this discreet microbrewery turns out small runs of classically styled artisan beers, distributed quietly and followed by a loyal community. With no taproom or website, it cultivates a deliberately modest existence, much like its region of fields and forests. For the curious traveller it is Järvamaa's only brewing name — one more reason to stop in Koeru, between Paide and Rakke.
