Oktoberfest Brașov: Romania's only Munich-licensed fest

Brașov holds an unusual distinction: it hosts the only Munich-licensed Oktoberfest in Romania, and it holds it in late summer rather than autumn. The 2026 edition runs from 27 August to 6 September on a single fairground on Strada Turnului, below Tâmpa mountain at the edge of the old town. The licence matters because it imposes standards on the beer served and the format of the event, so what visitors find is closer to the Bavarian original than most international spin-offs. Brașov itself is a Saxon foundation, one of the seven fortified towns that gave Transylvania its German name of Siebenbürgen, and its Black Church and medieval walls are a short walk from the festival site.
