Oktoberfest 2026 in Munich, the 190th Wiesn on the Theresienwiese

"The world's largest folk festival returns to Munich for its 190th edition, and it remains the measure against which every other beer festival is judged. From 19 September to 4 October 2026, the Theresienwiese fills once more with fourteen large tents and dozens of smaller ones, each pouring the Wiesnbier brewed specially for the occasion by the six traditional Munich breweries: Augustiner, Paulaner, Hacker-Pschorr, Löwenbräu, Spaten and Hofbräu. Only beer that meets the Reinheitsgebot and is brewed within the city limits may be served, poured strictly in the one-litre Maß.
The festival opens at noon on the first Saturday, when the Lord Mayor taps the first keg with the cry of ""O'zapft is!"". Beyond the tents, expect a costume and riflemen's parade, brass bands, fairground rides and Bavarian classics from roast chicken to giant pretzels. Entry to the grounds and tents is free; you pay only for what you eat and drink. Weekends and evenings are busiest, so mornings and weekdays reward those who prefer a calmer table. Reservations for tables are handled directly by each tent and tend to disappear months ahead.
