Dani piva Karlovac 2026: Croatia's Oldest Beer Days

"Karlovac calls itself the town where four rivers meet; for five days at the turn of September it gains a fifth, made of beer. Dani piva (Beer Days) is Croatia's oldest and largest beer festival, and its 39th edition runs from 28 August to 1 September 2026 in the Zvijezda, the star-shaped Renaissance old town.

The programme pairs the city's own Karlovacko brewery with guest taps, regional street food and a dense concert line-up across two open-air stages that draws tens of thousands of visitors each evening. Beyond the pours, daytime hours bring craft stalls, sporting side-events and family activities, all wrapped in the relaxed, communal mood that has defined the gathering since the 1980s.

Entry to the festival grounds is traditionally free, with visitors paying only for what they eat and drink. Karlovac lies roughly an hour by car or train from both Zagreb and Rijeka, making it an easy stop on any Croatian itinerary. Organised by the City of Karlovac, it remains a fixture of the late-summer calendar for beer lovers across the wider region.
