Basler Biermarkt: small brewers where three cultures meet
28/08/2026 10:00 Vogesenplatz, Bâle, Suisse
About this event
Basel sits where Switzerland, France and Germany meet, three brewing cultures within a tram ride of one another, and its beer market takes place at that junction. The Basler Biermarkt is held on 28 and 29 August 2026 on the Vogesenplatz, in the redeveloped Saint-Johann district beside the Rhine. Around twenty breweries take part, and the event is described in the Swiss scene as the great gathering of small brewers and their followers, which is an accurate summary of the tone: this is a market rather than a mega-festival. Switzerland's brewing landscape changed dramatically after 1991, when the abolition of the national beer cartel opened the way for hundreds of new producers; the country now has more breweries per capita than almost anywhere. Basel's museums, notably the Kunstmuseum and the Fondation Beyeler, make an obvious complement. More information: https://baslerbiermarkt.ch/
