Oslo is both the capital of Norway and a county (fylke), at the head of the Oslofjord and entirely surrounded by Akershus. It had about 681,000 inhabitants in 2019. It includes the Oslo Opera House, opened in 2008, and the Ringnes brewery, founded in 1876.

Born in 2011 as a brewpub in central Oslo, Amundsen Bryggeri grew so fast that it opened a large production facility in 2016, without ever losing its graphic identity: some of the most recognisable labels in European craft. Its signature? The Dessert in a Can series of pastry-like dessert stouts, fruit-forward sours and modern IPAs, executed with distinctly Nordic precision. The Oslo taproom remains the gathering point for the capital's beer lovers, where new releases are unveiled. Amundsen embodies the generation that took Norwegian craft from insider circles to fridges across Europe.
