Set against the foothills of the Palatinate Forest, in the Blies valley, Homburg is the seat of the Saarpfalz district (Saarpfalz-Kreis), in Saarland. It had about 43,400 inhabitants at the end of 2024 and covers some 83 km². It borders Bexbach, Blieskastel, Kirkel and Zweibrücken.
