The Azores are an archipelago in the North Atlantic Ocean and an autonomous region of Portugal, about 1,400 km west of the mainland. They comprise nine islands, including São Miguel, Terceira, Pico and Faial, arranged in three groups. Ponta Delgada is the seat of the executive.
