Appenzell Ausserrhoden
Appenzell Ausserrhoden is a canton in north-eastern Switzerland, surrounded by St. Gallen and Appenzell Innerrhoden. A hilly canton historically shaped by textiles and embroidery, it has about 56,000 inhabitants; its main town is Herisau. It shares the Säntis (2,502 m), the region's highest point.
