The Alford Arms

The lane into Frithsden has a tucked-away Chiltern quality: trees, folds, estate land and the sense that the pub is a reward for finding the hamlet. Approach from the A41 at Berkhamsted or Hemel Hempstead, then follow small roads through Potten End or Nettleden. The final lanes are narrow and dark after sunset; parking is on site but can fill on walking-weather Sundays.
