South of Amsterdam, in North Holland, Amstelveen has about 95,800 inhabitants in early 2026. Called Nieuwer-Amstel until 1964, the municipality contains the Amsterdamse Bos, a park of some 900 hectares, and the Cobra Museum. The municipality covers 44.08 km², of which 2.95 km² is water.
