Pau is a French commune, prefecture of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department (Nouvelle-Aquitaine) and former capital of Béarn. It has around 80,000 inhabitants and covers 31.5 km². The Gave de Pau flows through it; the Château de Pau, birthplace of Henri IV, overlooks the river.
