Nevers is a French commune and the prefecture of the Nièvre department (Bourgogne-Franche-Comté). It has around 33,000 inhabitants on 17 km², on the right bank of the Loire at its confluence with the Nièvre. The cathedral of Saint-Cyr and Saint-Julitte and the Ducal Palace stand in the old town.
