Fougères is a sub-prefecture of Ille-et-Vilaine (Brittany), in the northeast of the department. It has around 20,300 inhabitants and covers 10 km². The Château de Fougères, a medieval fortress with thirteen towers built in the Nançon valley, overlooks the town.
