Barraux is a French commune in the Isère département (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes), in the arrondissement of Grenoble, 3 km from Pontcharra. It has around 2,000 inhabitants on 11 km², in the Grésivaudan valley, and is home to Fort Barraux, begun in 1597 at the entrance to the valley.
