Agde is a French commune in the Hérault department (Occitanie), on the Hérault river, a few kilometres from the Mediterranean. It has around 29,600 inhabitants on 51 km². The Saint-Étienne cathedral, built of black basalt, stands in the old town, founded by Greek settlers around 525 BC.
