Waren (Müritz) was the district seat of the former Müritz district until 2011 and belongs to the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern). It lies at the northern end of Lake Müritz, which covers 117 km². The town had about 20,300 inhabitants at the end of 2024.
