In a valley basin formed by a loop of the Schwarzer Regen, at the foot of the Pfahl ridge, in the Bavarian Forest Nature Park, Viechtach is a town in Lower Bavaria, in the district (Landkreis) of Regen. It had about 8,400 inhabitants at the end of 2024 and covers some 62 km².
