Schwalmstadt, a town in Hesse in the Schwalm-Eder district, lies in the Schwalm basin on the western edge of the Knüll mountains. It was formed in 1970 by the merger of Treysa and Ziegenhain and had about 18,700 inhabitants at the end of 2023 on some 85 km².
