Kottmar takes its name from a 583 m mountain, an extinct phonolite volcano, and has united Eibau, Niedercunnersdorf and Obercunnersdorf since 2013, in the Görlitz district (Saxony), between Zittau and Löbau. The municipality had about 7,200 inhabitants at the end of 2023.
