The easternmost municipality of the Dachau district, in Upper Bavaria, Haimhausen lies at 487 m above sea level on the Amper river, at the edge of the Dachauer Moos, a marshy area. It had about 5,600 inhabitants at the end of 2024 and covers some 26.7 km².
