Overlooked by the Wartburg, Eisenach is a town in Thuringia, in the Wartburgkreis district, at the northern edge of the Thuringian Forest and in the valley of the Hörsel. It had about 40,700 inhabitants at the end of 2024 and covers some 104 km². It borders Gerstungen, Wutha-Farnroda and Herleshausen (Hesse).
