Eichstätt is a town in Upper Bavaria and the capital of the Eichstätt district, on the Altmühl river at an elevation of 393 m. It received town walls and a charter in 908 and had about 13,900 inhabitants at the end of 2023. It lies at the heart of the Altmühl Valley Nature Park.
