Bottrop is an urban district (kreisfreie Stadt) of North Rhine-Westphalia, divided into three Stadtbezirke: Bottrop-Mitte, Bottrop-Süd and Bottrop-Kirchhellen. It had about 118,500 inhabitants at the end of 2024 and covers some 101 km². Its neo-Renaissance city hall was built between 1910 and 1916.
