At an elevation of 320 metres, Bitburg is the district seat of the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate. The town, whose origins go back about two thousand years, had over 17,000 inhabitants at the end of 2024 and covers about 48 km², in the heart of the Eifel.
