Schaffhausen is the northernmost city in Switzerland. South-east of the Randen, at the mouth of the Durach into the Rhine, it is the capital of the canton of the same name. It had about 39,500 inhabitants in 2024 and covers 41.78 km², including Hemmental since 2009.
