In the centre of Upper Valais, in the Brig district, Naters stretches from the banks of the Rhône, at 673 m, up to the Aletschhorn at nearly 4,200 m. It had about 10,600 inhabitants at the end of 2023 and covers 101.26 km². Since 2013 it has included Birgisch and Mund.
