About ten kilometres north of Bern, in the Bernese Mittelland, Münchenbuchsee had nearly 10,800 inhabitants in 2024. The municipality borders Zollikofen, Moosseedorf, Kirchlindach, Schüpfen and Rapperswil, among others. The Hospitaller commandery was founded here in 1180.
