At the foot of Mount Pilatus, west of the city of Lucerne, Kriens is a municipality in the canton of Lucerne bordering Horw, Malters, Schwarzenberg and Hergiswil. It had about 30,200 inhabitants in 2024, covers 27.34 km² and includes Obernau and the hamlet of Hergiswald.
