On Lake Zurich, seat of the Horgen district since 1831, Horgen had about 24,600 inhabitants in 2024. The municipality rises from 408 m at the lake to 915 m on the Albis chain, and borders Oberrieden, Wädenswil, Thalwil and Langnau am Albis, among others.
