In the Limmat valley, at the foot of the Lägern (866 m), the old town of Baden nestles in the Klus gorge. Enlarged by the merger with Turgi on 1 January 2024, the town had about 24,200 inhabitants at the end of 2024. Its thermal baths have been known since Roman times.
