North of the city of Zug, in the canton of the same name, Baar is crossed by the Lorze, which flows from Lake Ägeri to Lake Zug. It had about 25,000 inhabitants at the end of 2022 and covers 24.8 km², at an elevation of 443 m, at the foot of the Zugerberg.
