The administrative seat of the district of the same name in the Innviertel, Ried im Innkreis lies in a depression of the Alpine foreland, north of the Hausruck forest, where the Oberach and the Breitsach meet. It had about 12,700 inhabitants on 1 January 2024 and covers some 7 km², at 433 m above sea level.
