At the confluence of the Isel and the Drava, where the Drava, Puster and Isel valleys meet, Lienz is the administrative seat of the district of the same name, in East Tyrol. It had about 12,000 inhabitants on 1 January 2024 and covers some 16 km², at 673 m above sea level in the centre.
